Back to the Hudson Valley
Hudson is a place I've wanted to visit for a long, long time. I've been secretly and not-so-secretly obsessed for years.
I bought this book on houses in the area almost as soon as it came out (and that was 8 years ago! I've been obsessed for almost a decade!). According to the book description, "it has been called America's Loire Valley, the Napa Valley of the East, and the new Hamptons". Personally, I prefer "the Provence of upstate New York".

Accompanied by the sounds of cicadas, which seemed to hide in every shrub and tree around.
A revisit: Stone Hill Center
The Stone Hill Center at the Clark was designed by Tadao Ando and opened in 2008. Above are some photos from a fall visit in 2012.
As soon as I saw the building, I felt a wave of recognition and déjà vu. The way I felt walking around the grounds really reminded me of the serenity I experienced visiting the Pultizer Foundation for the Arts in St. Louis. And for good reason-- that building was also designed by Ando.
Garfield Park Conservatory
Garfield Park conservatory is a beautiful old (over one hundred years old!) conservatory set in a large park on Chicago's west side. Walking among the rooms, which include the palm room, the fern room, and the desert room, can feel like moving between a series of giant terrariums.
